Unfortunately, we are forced to inform you about a serious accident that occurred on the Hamburg – Hannover route this morning.

In the Uelzen area, lightning struck overhead power lines and damaged several signalling systems. In addition, the storm knocked down a tree and several other trees are in danger of falling onto the tracks.

Due to the ongoing closures on the corridor to/from the Port of Hamburg in Germany, there is basically no free detour route available at the moment. All lines in northern Germany are currently completely congested. Since the accident occurred in the central area of Hannover, not only domestic and international trains from/to the Port of Hamburg, but also from/to the Port of Bremerhaven, Wilhelmshaven as well as domestic east-western connections are restricted.

At the moment, it is not known when the consequences of the storm will be removed and traffic will be restored. We are therefore unable to provide you with details of your shipments. However, we are monitoring the situation closely and will inform you as soon as possible.
