Consequences of heavy rainfall on the railway line Bad Schandau / Děčín – update No. 2

Dear Customers,

As we informed you in our previous Newsletter No. 36 on 19 July 2021, due to heavy rainfall, the railway line between Děčín and Bad Schandau on the corridor from CZ to northern European ports (Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam) remains closed for railway freight trains.

A partial resumption of operations for freight transport is expected on 29/07/2021 using only one track at a reduced speed. This should allow the passing of about 50 % of the train capacity to Decin and we will continue to be forced to choose diversion routes through the border crossings Schirnding / Cheb and for trains from Česká Třebová or Dunajská Streda through Poland via Lichkov and Horka. We estimate the current delay to be 48 to 52 hours, which with reduced capacity may continue to increase despite our efforts to minimize this delay as much as possible.

As we were informed, even after the partial return of freight transport to line through Děčín (we believe from 29/07/2021), damage reconstruction in consequence of heavy rainfall will continue at least in the next 5 weeks.

Our customer service departments will inform you about the specific delay of your shipments.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delay resulting from track impassability.
