Operational Situation on the German Railway Infrastructure – Update No. 5

Dear Customers,

We hope that this week, thanks to the temporary end of the lockout in the Elbe Valley, we will see positive developments in the overall situation.

The demonstration in Hamburg, which we informed you about, ended on Friday at around 4 p.m. Later that afternoon, the Hamburg Port Authority also ended regulated arrivals.

As of this morning, with a few exceptions, we managed to restore the operation of our services. We are working on the remaining cases. In order for the situation to improve and for us to have a chance to restore the controlled circulation of train sets and personnel, we had to proceed with the cancellation of 20 trains, despite our philosophy. In the coming days, we will continue to utilise all connections to the fullest extent possible and strive to dispatch special trains to deliver containers that have been stuck in ports for the reasons mentioned above.

However, based on reports from the Hamburg terminals, we are forced to inform you that in some cases, handling delays are reaching up to 40 hours. Of course, this fact complicates the operation.

Trains to/from Wilhelmshaven are still being slowed down by restricted traffic across the Hunterbrücke bridge. This measure is expected to remain in place until the beginning of December. Unfortunately, special trains in this direction are not possible.

We must also remind you that closures in the Elbe Valley will continue from 13/11/2025 to 16/11/2025, with services suspended between 8:50 a.m. and 6:50 p.m., followed by another total closure from 2/12/2025 to 10/12/2025.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience. If you have any questions regarding specific shipments, please contact our Customer Service.
