Dear Customers,
The situation on the German rail infrastructure has not improved so far. Ongoing congestion still prevents us from implementing measures to mitigate the critical situation and continues to cause delays to all transiting trains. We are still forced to cancel certain train connections, with the most significant impact within the DE National traffic.
Hamburg port terminals are reporting delays in handling, and other northern German ports remain overloaded, which further slows train operations. It is currently not possible to even approach regular timetables, and clearing the accumulated volumes will take a considerable amount of time.
Poland: Yesterday in the late afternoon, a catenary line was torn down in Zbąszynek, resulting in the suspension of freight train operations in both directions between Poland and Germany. Repairs are expected to be completed today at approximately 13:00.
Gdańsk: Weather conditions are no longer significantly restricting port operations, and the backlog in handling is gradually decreasing. Train operations remain disrupted due to irregular circulation of train sets; we are working to minimize delays.
From 23.01. – 26.01.2026, rail traffic to/from the METRANS Ostrava terminal, CZ, will be suspended due to a track closure in Havířov. During the closure, the terminal will continue to provide all road distribution, transshipment, and depot services. However, it will not be possible to dispatch or receive rail consignments or handle trains during the above-mentioned period. In the direction of Gdańsk, a replacement train connection will be operated from Česká Třebová on 26.01.2026.
We would like to remind you of the upcoming line closures on the Elbe Valley corridor, which were previously announced in Newsletter No. 143/2025. The date of the last closure has been corrected. These closures will restrict services between CZ, SK, HU, AT, the Balkans, and the northern German ports, as well as Rotterdam and Duisburg.
- 14.02. – 16.02.2026: Complete closure in Dresden; detour routes via Cheb/Schirnding and Horka. Passau will likely be inaccessible due to track rehabilitation on the Nuremberg–Regensburg line from 06.02.2026.
- 21.02. – 26.02.2026: Partial closure on the Kurort Rathen – Pirna section.
- 26.02. – 28.02.2026: Partial closure on the Bad Schandau Ost – Königstein section.
