Operational Situation in Northern Europe – Update No. 10

Dear Customers,

After the weekend, we bring you news about the current situation in the northern part of the METRANS network.

Bremerhaven: Heavy snowfall occurred in this area over the weekend. Trains are currently not departing from the port. The safety systems installed at crossings between Bremen and Hamburg are not functioning due to frost and snow, and temporary traffic control is necessary.

Hamburg: HPA is still controlling entry. DB InfaGO is also regulating export connections to the port. Currently, 19 trains have not arrived in Hamburg, both due to the above-mentioned weather and due to infrastructure restrictions. As a result, there is a significant shortage of train sets for imports, some trains are being cancelled, and delays persist. For Hamburg in particular, the volume of import shipments significantly exceeds the capacity that we can currently dispatch.

Gdańsk: Despite the cancellation of weekend slots, BalticHub is not operating entirely according to plan and the handling of agreed trains is delayed. As we have already pointed out, the surplus of import shipments has increased and connections are fully booked until 12 February 2026. We will request extra trains as soon as possible.

Rotterdam / Duisburg: Services are running without any major problems.

We hope that the forecasts of bad weather will not be fulfilled and the situation will allow us to bring more positive information.

Please contact our customer service with questions about your specific shipments.
