Dear Customers,
The main topic of today’s newsletter is Hamburg. Hopes for a quicker improvement in the situation thanks to Monday’s cancellation of train entry regulations quickly faded yesterday evening. At around 6:00 p.m. on 4 March 2026, a foreign train derailed at the Waltershof Hamburg station, damaging six tracks. The HPA immediately resumed entry control. It must be expected that the vast majority of trains bound for Hamburg are and will remain stopped. We are forced to cancel import trains. The estimated time for eliminating the consequences of the accident is not yet known. Unfortunately, a significant negative impact on all our services is inevitable.
The complicated passage through Germany is also causing delays at the Rotterdam and Duisburg services. Here, too, there is already a shortage of trains and locomotives due to their overall disrupted circulation.
Bremerhaven: Access is still restricted and train and locomotive traffic is significantly disrupted. Yesterday, a bomb was reported in Bremen, preventing some trains from running to/from the port.
Wilhelmshaven: Train and locomotive traffic is significantly disrupted.
Germany: Due to an extensive vehicle fire in the Engelberg Tunnel (A81), please expect significant delays for truck deliveries in the Kornwestheim area; while the east tube has been partially reopened with a limited number of lanes, the west tube (towards Stuttgart) remains closed indefinitely due to repairs to the damaged infrastructure. Please note that delays in transport may occur even though these circumstances are actively taken into account in current route planning.
Gdańsk: Trains are currently running with a delay of approximately 8 hours due to delays in train handling at the BalticHub terminal. Train circulation is also disrupted due to a long-term closure between METRANS Ostrava and Česká Třebová terminals, which we reported in Newsletter No. 039/2026. The BalticHub terminal has reduced the capacity of planned slots by up to 30% for this week. Imports are fully booked until 19 March 2026, and it is not possible to request an extra train at this time.
Our Customer Service team will answer any questions you may have about specific shipments.
