Operational Situation in Northern Europe – Update No. 42

Dear Customers,

The operational situation in Germany remains complicated. In addition to ongoing closures, operations have been further disrupted over the past two days by extraordinary incidents.
On April 28, 2026, due to a gas leak on the main pipeline in the Waltershofer Strasse area, traffic to/from the Port of Hamburg was suspended for nearly three hours, along with a ban on train movements in the Hafen West area, i.e. to/from the CTA, CTB, and Eurogate terminals.
Furthermore, on April 29, 2026, a train derailed on the Magdeburg–Stendal route. Until May 1, 2026, 00:30, all traffic is being diverted via alternative routes.

As a result of these extraordinary events, train set circulation has been disrupted, and there is a shortage of technical and human resources, as well as missed slots. For the time being, we have had to implement an exceptional measure and cancel 8 international import services.

Railway infrastructure in Germany is congested, and trains are experiencing delays, particularly in the Magdeburg and Hannover areas.

We would like to remind you that in connection with the public holiday on May 1, 2026, operations in the northern German ports were suspended today, April 30, 2026 at 12:00, and will resume on May 2, 2026, at 07:00.
