Dear Customers,
We would like to inform you about restrictions on the import of PFAS substances in accordance with current European Union legislation. Based on EU regulations, the customer is responsible for ensuring that imported products or materials are safe and do not contain prohibited per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). These are a group of synthetically produced chemical compounds that repel water, grease, and dirt, which are used, for example, in the manufacture of kitchen utensils, food packaging, textiles, cosmetics, electronics, and firefighting foams.
The customer ordering the transport is obliged to provide the relevant documentation or declaration of conformity upon request. In the event of non-compliance or violation of regulations relating to PFAS, the customer bears full legal, financial, and material responsibility.
With reference to this legislation, we have expanded the METRANS General Conditions with the following provision:
The Principal declares and guarantees that all shipments ordered for transport with METRANS comply with the applicable EU legal regulations concerning the restriction of PFAS substances and do not contain any prohibited compounds. The Principal is furthermore responsible for ensuring that the products or materials in the shipment are safe for transport within the European Union and is obliged to provide the relevant documentation or declaration of conformity upon request.
In the event of non-compliance or a violation of PFAS regulations, the Principal bears full legal, financial, and material liability. METRANS shall not be liable for any consequences arising from the transport of goods that do not meet the aforementioned requirements, nor for any legal implications resulting from non-compliance with PFAS restrictions.
If it is proven that the shipment contains prohibited PFAS substances, METRANS is entitled to refuse, suspend, or terminate the transport without any entitlement of the Principal to compensation for damages or loss of profit.
