Interruption of Operation in Seaports and on Railways in Northern Europe Due to Windstorms – Update No. 3, 21.02.2022

21.02.2022

Dear Customers,

Unfortunately, after repeated windstorms in Northern Europe, rail freight transportation to or from North European ports has been practically stopped. Since Thursday, February 17th 2022, we have been forced to inform you about the gradual stopping of operation in seaports, at terminals and the stopping of trains due to windstorms. These storms passed through in several waves over the weekend and now, if the weather allows, operation in seaports and on railways should get restored again. Traffic restrictions for freight trains still remain and a return to full operation is still not possible. On all our routes to or from Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam and Duisburg, trains are delayed for up to 4 days.

It is necessary to count with significant delays in the next 7-10 days. We will keep you informed about the situation, as the information on return to standard operation will get more precise.

With regard to the constantly changing situation even in seaports with arrivals – delayed vessels, these delays can change significantly and the situation will get changed and updated daily, so there may happen shifts in departures. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to guarantee the timely delivery of containers to seaports / taking containers from seaports, including timely arranging local shunts between container terminals in the port. Our customer service departments will inform you about delays in particular and about current transport possibilities for your shipments.

Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for the inconveniences resulting from delays caused by the adverse weather conditions and their consequences, for which our company cannot be held responsible.

We believe that we will manage everything together and that the container trains will soon return to their regular routes.
