Introduction of a Fuel Surcharge

Dear Customers,

Following our Newsletter No. 24/2022 of 09.03.2022, by which we informed you about the growing fuel prices affecting the cost of first/last mile delivery, we are unfortunately forced to return to this topic again and respond to the current market situation. We are in an unstable situation and we will probably have to fight with growing costs all year round.

In the General Conditions for Container Transports in 2022, we reserve the right to accommodate the prices in case of bad economic conditions (fuel price increase by more than 15%). We have tried to find a solution that is fair and transparent, we did not want to introduce a flat-rate surcharge, as the fuel surcharge for the firt/last mile delivery is, of course, based on distance and mileage. Therefore, we have approached the percentage expression based on the development of diesel prices and, in the case of a local currency other than the EUR, also on the development of the exchange rate of the local currency against the EUR. Our pricing departments will send you the lists of destinations by country with the current amount of fuel surcharge. Here you can download the current fuel surcharge from our website according to the particular services and regions.

We are introducing the fuel surcharges from 21.03.2022 (first/last mile delivery date). To transport, where multistop is needed, we will provide you with a fuel surcharge upon request. So far, it is a fuel surcharge based on the requirements of truckers. WE, as METRANS, are currently monitoring the situation whether it will be necessary to introduce a surcharge in connection with the fact that even reach stackers or diesel locomotives are powered by diesel. We will return to this topic in case the situation continues to deteriorate or remains at an unacceptable level.

Thank you for your understanding.
