Operational Complications in the Port of Hamburg – Update No. 1

02.09.2022

Dear Customers,

Unfortunately, we have to inform you about further restrictions on rail traffic in the Port of Hamburg.

Due to persistent delays in the handling of trains, both the arrival and departure tracks are blocked. The most serious situation is currently at Hamburg Waltershof station. Therefore, yesterday afternoon, the HPA port authority stopped the reception of trains to this station, and until further notice, level 3, i.e. very limited or no rail traffic, applies to it. The original report can be found in the attachment.

This measure will stop or significantly slow down our import and export trains serving Hamburg’s Eurogate, CTA and Burchardkai terminals and will reduce the capacity of our available train sets. Nevertheless, we will try to minimise the impact of these restrictions on our other services.

In these days (from 1 September to 6 September 2022), according to the attached announcement, construction work is underway at CTB / Burchardkai Terminal. Part of the railway tracks at the terminal is thus unavailable, which will limit the terminal’s productivity and may cause further delays.

We are monitoring the situation and will continue to inform you.

Please contact our customer service if you have any questions about your shipments.
