Operational Situation in Northern Europe – Update No. 29

Dear Customers,

The situation in the northern part of our network remains complicated. Due to track closures and the congested railway infrastructure, trains are experiencing delays while passing through Germany. The circulation of train sets and locomotives continues to be significantly disrupted, and we are forced to cancel some trains. We will be dealing with the overall disruption to operations for a long time. Any restriction, even a planned one, sets the situation back by several steps.

For the northern German ports, it generally still applies that import services are booked weeks in advance, and the volume of import shipments accumulated at the ports is enormous.

Hamburg: HPA has cancelled the entry permit requirement, which is a positive development; however, it does not resolve the current situation. Some port terminals are operating with delays.

Bremerhaven: The entry permit requirement remains in effect. There are significant delays in both directions, and the planning and circulation of locomotives and train sets are fully dependent on the respective infrastructures.

Gdańsk: Trains are currently running with delays of approximately 38 hours due to the long-term track closure between the METRANS Ostrava and Česká Třebová terminals, about which we informed you in Newsletter No. 039/2026. The BalticHub terminal is operating with reduced capacity of scheduled slots by up to 30%. Import services are fully booked until 21.03.2026 (inclusive), and it is currently not possible to request an additional train.

If you have any questions regarding specific shipments, please contact our customer service.
