Operational Situation in Northern Europe – Update No. 36

Dear Customers,

The broken overhead wires in the Uelzen area of Germany have been repaired, and service has resumed on that section. However, due to yesterday’s suspension of service, there has been a significant backlog of trains on the rail network. Some trains in Germany, as well as in border regions and at port facilities, are still standing and waiting for route assignments. Delays are increasing, the circulation of trains and locomotives is even more severely disrupted, and we are forced to cancel some trains.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that Easter is approaching, bringing with it a work stoppage at port terminals from 04/04 to 06/04/2026. It is expected that the adjusted, already reduced timetable will not be feasible to maintain.

Hamburg: HPA suspended train entry control on 31/01/2026. It resumed operations in the afternoon of 01/04/2026. Some terminals are operating with delays.

Bremerhaven: Bremenports is still controlling train entry. The situation regarding train movements is extremely tense here, and delays in both directions are reaching several days.

Wilhelmshaven: Delays of approximately 1 day due to complicated transit through Germany.

Rotterdam / Duisburg: Delays of approximately 1 day due to complicated transit through Germany.

Gdańsk: Trains are currently running approximately 1.5 days behind schedule. The delay is primarily due to track closures between Česká Třebová and Havířov. Due to the delays, we were forced to cancel one train pair departing on 30/03/2026 from Ostrava and 31/03/2026 to Gdańsk in order to restore the regular schedule. Imports are fully booked until 16/04/2026, and it is not currently possible to request a special train.

Despite all the bad news, we would like to wish you a peaceful Easter holiday.
