Dear Customers,
as we have been facing congestion in the Hamburg infrastructure since the end of April, we would like to share the available information with you.
The Hamburg Port Authority announced a dispositive arrival to Hamburg on 26.04.2025. The arrival restriction was updated on 02.05. and the situation escalated on 06.05. evening, when the HPA stopped accepting most of our trains due to the overcrowded port.
Several trains are stopped in broader Hamburg area. At the same time, the transfer of sets from Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven to Hamburg is impossible. For this reason, we are unfortunately unable to serve a large number of slots at Hamburg terminals and are facing a shortage of locomotives and wagons.
The volume of scheduled units across all routes is extremely high and fully booked by week 22. In addition, we only have a limited number of passages through the Elbe Valley due to construction work on the DB infrastructure. During the entire month of May the rail traffic is interrupted between midnight and 05:00. It is therefore not possible to dispatch any extra trains.
We can end our report with at least one piece of good news. Yesterday at 17:45 the HPA ended the entry of trains on permission. The situation can be expected to improve during the weekend.
