Operational Situation on the German Railway Infrastructure – Update No. 11

Dear Customers,

It could be said that we are currently experiencing relatively calm days on the German railway network. Apart from the long-term closure on the Berlin–Hamburg route, there are currently no other closures in progress that would affect our trains. However, the infrastructure remains congested, there are minor delays at port terminals, and various extraordinary events occur on the lines, which we have to deal with and which complicate and slow down operations.

Instead of a Christmas present, today we are bringing you a New Year’s one. The reconstruction of the main corridor in the Elbe Valley will continue in 2026, which means restrictions on services between CZ, SK, HU, AT, the Balkans, and the northern German ports, Rotterdam, and Duisburg.

We have already informed you:

  • 09.01. – 12.01.2026 complete closure in Dresden, detour routes via Cheb/Schirnding, Horka, and partially via Passau.

New information today:

  • 14.02. – 16.02.2026 complete closure in Dresden, detour routes via Cheb/Schirnding and Horka. Passau will likely be inaccessible due to track repairs on the Nuremberg–Regensburg line from 06.02.2026.
  • 21.02. – 26.02.2026 partial closure Kurort Rathen – Pirna.
  • 21.02. – 26.02.2026 partial closure Bad Schandau Ost – Königstein.

We are already in contact with the railway infrastructure manager and are planning connections so that the restrictions have as little impact on our services as possible. Nevertheless, delays are to be expected. Our customer service team will be ready to answer your questions regarding specific shipments.
