Operational situation on the German railways

Dear Customers,

Yesterday brought complications that are resulting in further delays on our services passing through the Federal Republic of Germany.

A third-party train derailed in the Dradenau area yesterday around noon. The Hamburg Port Authority had already announced a permit-on-arrival regime on June 24, 2025. These two facts, together with the ongoing delays at some port terminals, have significantly limited the transit of our trains to/from the Port of Hamburg. Fortunately, the consequences of the accident have now been recovered.

The territory of Germany was hit by severe thunderstorms in the evening and night hours yesterday, which caused closures in many parts of the German railway infrastructure. Work continues to clear fallen trees, lightning strikes and other impacts of the storms.

Trains from the Czech Republic to Hamburg are now stopped at the CZ/DE border.

Other services are currently running, but they too are very negatively affected by the situation on the German railway:

  • DE national
  • Imports from German ports and Rotterdam
  • Exports to Bremerhaven and Rotterdam.

We are monitoring the situation and trying to minimise the impact on our trains.
