Dear Customers,
We follow up on our newsletters 60, 61 and 66/2025 in which we informed you about the storms over Germany and German ports and their impact on the infrastructure of the German railway and North German ports.
Due to the disrupted operations caused by the aforementioned bad weather combined with the Elbe Valley closure, it was not possible to deliver all the scheduled trains via Waltershof Hamburg to the destination terminals before the closure. Several trains from various destinations remained standing on the line to Hamburg. These trains started to run during the night so that they could be handled as soon as possible. The start of operations on the closed section was slightly delayed compared to the schedule, entry to the Hamburg terminals is possible from 7:46 a.m. today.
We are in intensively negotiating with the terminals to provide additional capacity in order to catch up with the slippage as soon as possible.
At the same time, we would like to draw your attention to the planned major closure on the main corridor between Berlin and the North German ports from 04.08.2025 to April 2026.
During this period, it will be necessary to use only alternative routes with limited capacity. The alternative solutions will be more demanding in terms of time and, therefore, in terms of personnel. The flow of traffic may be disrupted and delays of several hours may occur.
This closure will affect all services between the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven and the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Königs Wusterhausen in Germany.
Colleagues from our customer services are and will be available for your questions.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
