The GDL (Union of German Train Drivers) has announced another nationwide strike from Wednesday, August 11th, 2021.
The GDL trade union is starting with strike measures today, as it was announced today (August 10, 2021) by chairman Claus Weselsky. The nationwide strike at DB Cargo begins at 7 p.m. All passenger transport of DB and infrastructure will be on strike from August 11, 2021, at 2 a.m. According to Mr. Weselsky, the estimated time of termination of this first wave will be on August 13, 2021, at 2 a.m. The strike should not interfere with transport at the weekend. According to the GDL, 95% of the union members had voted to back the move and 70% of the invited members had participated. The GDL wants to decide about and announce further measures “operationally”.
We will continue to monitor the situation in Germany. We assume that the strike will bring restrictions in operation, as the railway infrastructure is also affected. We will keep you updated on the situation.
