Trade union strike in Germany – Update No. 1

28.3.2023

Dear Customers,

As we informed you in our Newsletter No. 30/2023 on Monday, 27 March 2023, German trade unions have paralysed public and freight transport throughout Germany with a strike.

We are trying to minimise the impact of the strike on our services as much as possible, but please expect some delays.

More detailed information about the individual services:

CZ, SK, AT
To reduce the impact of the strike, we dispatched the Sunday export trains to northern German ports ahead of time and we loaded and prepared the Monday departure trains to enter German territory as soon as they receive permission.
In the import direction from Hamburg and Bremerhaven, we were unfortunately forced to cancel a total of 8 trains.
Train delays are currently between 0 and 19 hours.

PL
One pair of trains between Poland and Hamburg has been cancelled, the connections are now without delay.

DE – National
Unfortunately, we had to cancel all Monday departures. Trains are now running without delay. However, the cancellation of all Monday connections has a significantly negative impact on the capacity that was already overcrowded before the strike.

Rotterdam
No departures have been cancelled, trains are delayed up to 0-16 hours.

In those cases where we had to cancel trains, containers are rebooked for later departures. We assume that most services will return to their original state no later than Friday, 31 March 2023.

Please contact our Customer Service Department for specific information about your shipments.
