Current Situation on the Railway Corridors Leading to/from the Northern Ports

05.09.2022

Dear Customers,

We would like to provide you with the latest news about the North German services after the weekend.

Just like last Thursday,  the HPA port authority in Hamburg announced level 3 for the reception of trains on Friday as well, which means minimal or no traffic. We currently have 13 export trains suspended on the way to North German ports that will continue their way gradually. This measure also delays the subsequent import trains, unfortunately by a few days.

Due to such impaired circulation of sets and the obligation to comply with the pairing of export and import containers and trains at CTA, we are forced to stop the dispatch of export block trains destined for CTA Hamburg Terminal for the next 48 hours. Unfortunately, this will unintentionally create a shortage of wagons in the Port of Hamburg, especially at Burchardkai Terminal, which we will try to minimise by sending out special trains for the import of empty sets. Currently, 6 trains are waiting to be loaded in this way only at Burchardkai Terminal.

However, as we informed you last week, construction work is taking place at CTB / Burchardkai Hamburg Terminal until 06.09.2022, due to which part of the railway tracks are out of service. The terminal reports in the attached message dated from 05.09.2022 morning an approx. 48-hour delay in handling trains.

Export and import services between Hamburg and Bremerhaven and the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria are particularly affected by the severely disrupted circulation of train sets. We are very sorry, but in this situation, we are unable to guarantee timely delivery of containers.

Please take this into account when planning your shipments and contact our customer service with questions about your specific shipments.
