Dear Customers,
We would like to inform you about the current operational situation in the Port of Hamburg.
Although developments at the end of last week indicated a stabilisation of the operational situation in Hamburg, this morning we were informed by the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) of restrictions that will affect the operation of import and export trains to and from the Port of Hamburg.
In the attached document, HPA declares level 3 for the arrival of trains to Hamburg – severely limited or no train traffic, due to occupied entry tracks and delays in the departure of import trains.
In practice, this means that the terminals do not have time to handle export and import trains, and the restriction of the reception of additional trains will unfortunately have a significant effect on the delay of our services to and from Hamburg.
In addition to the aforementioned announcement, CTA terminal evaluates its own operational situation on a daily basis and issues instructions – regulations that complicate train scheduling. The requirement to match the quantities of export and import shipments at CTA terminal is a limiting factor in container traffic to and from the entire Port of Hamburg. Furthermore, the delay of services leading specifically through the Czech Republic is also increasing due to regular lockouts in the Elbe Valley.
We are constantly monitoring the situation and will continue to inform you about the impact of port restrictions and restrictions on railway infrastructure on METRANS trains.
For questions regarding your specific shipments, please contact our customer service, our colleagues will be happy to assist you.
We would like to bring to your attention in the attachment the overview of the ordered train slots and the slots that we were actually able to realise recently.
