Dear Customers,
We would like to provide you with an update on the situation of rail transportation to / from CTA terminal in Hamburg. As we already informed you in previous newsletters, the terminal had introduced a new procedure for train acceptance, resulting from delayed vessels and operational restrictions due to delays and weather conditions.
Unfortunately, we have been informed, as you can see in the attached letter, that the situation has not improved and based on the provided information, the terminal is still accepting export trains only when import containers can be immediately picked up. As a result of the disbalance of import and export flow through terminal CTA, along with the continuous trend of vessel delays, our hands are tied and we are unable to plan effectively and to dispatch the necessary number of trains in order to deliver your shipments to CTA as per the instructions in the orders.
At this stage, we are not in a position to guarantee the usual and desired transit time for export shipments to CTA as the containers are being stopped at our inland terminals and it is necessary to count with further delays. This can lead to incurring additional costs such as storage costs and other eventual associated costs which will have to be charged, respectively reinvoiced to you.
